WHAT IS CPD?
‘CPD’ stands for Continuing Professional Development. It refers to the process of tracking and documenting the new skills, knowledge and experiences gained from formal and informal training for you and your teams as you progress in building capability in your business.
NZ Trade Group has developed the first ever CPD programme for the electrical industry and it ensures all members maintain high standards. Each NZTG member business aims to achieve 21 CPD points each year across three key categories:
1. BUSINESS COMPETENCE
2. BUSINESS COMPLIANCE
3. TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT
We believe that the CPD programme is beneficial to every member and to the electrical industry as a whole. No other system can deliver a tangible way of creating and maintaining a national network of competent, compliant and qualified contractors that can demonstrate standards to customers and to the market.
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

NZ Trade Group has written a range of online training modules to suit businesses and employees at multiple levels. This suite of over 150 short courses will help in all key areas of your business, from roles and routines to marketing and sales templates. It’s free, cloud-based and offers learning at your own pace.
BUSINESS STRATEGY AND PLANNING
A full-day facilitated session for directors and operational staff that is provided free to all new members who join NZTG and for all existing members on an annual basis. The purpose is to establish a measurable and structured business plan that includes a focus on key areas of the business, systems and structure, and the professional development goals for the company and employees.
NZTG provides bespoke coaching solutions for directors or managers within your business. This is either a one-on-one or a one-to-leadership team series of monthly meetings over a mutually agreed timeframe. This can be delivered online or in-office and designed to meet your needs. Great for new business owners or larger companies making changes, moving into different markets or scaling their operation or investments. Coaching fees do apply.
TRADE BUSINESS TRAINING (TBT)
NZTG also works with a funded training organisation. TBT delivers a structured business management programme that includes facilitated training sessions, online support and coaching. TBT is a registered partner of the Regional Business Partner (RBP) Programme where trade-based companies can apply for funding to offset the cost of this programme throughout the calendar year.
